Overview

Decisions are guided by policies, procedures, and the business plan. This position receives guidance and oversight from a manager. Typically it does not perform the work being supervised. The supervisor oversees highly skilled transmission and distribution work on electrical facilities in a safe, productive manner, ensuring quality by supervising line crews assigned to all overhead and underground line facilities. It provides timely, cost‑effective, reliable service to customers.

Location & Shift

• Candidates may have their home location in any of the three North regions: Central, Susquehanna, and Northeast.
• This supervisor role is on 3rd shift (2100‑0700) and works 8 days on followed by 6 days off.

Responsibilities

• Complete capital and O&M work in the area.
• Respond to storm restoration efforts round‑the‑clock, leading crew efforts to restore PPL facilities to normal operation.
• Work with field and G.O. designers to develop mutually agreeable designs that can be built within approved hours.
• Apply safe working practices in compliance with company safety rules and train subordinates in safety awareness.
• Provide customer satisfaction by applying cost‑effective work practices to ensure job quality and reliability.
• Supervise, prioritize, and schedule resources to meet customer/client requirements during normal operations and storm emergencies.
• Conduct daily tailboards to communicate safe work plans, company policies, and expectations.
• Lead, train, motivate, coach, and counsel employees to meet position expectations.
• Communicate and coordinate work schedules with internal and external customers, foreign utilities, and contractors.
• Ensure timely completion of administrative processes such as mandated annual reviews, Labor Agreement, crew audits, Time & Labor, etc.
• When applicable, provide in‑person supervision to ensure compliance with FLSA wage and hour rules and safety regulations.
• Work may be performed on‑site, remotely, or a combination; location can change.
• May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role, which may require after‑hours work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all company policies and standards.

Qualifications

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree and one year of electrical or mechanical operations and maintenance or equivalent education and experience.

Required Experience

Demonstrated expertise in energized and deenergized facilities, switching and tagging procedures, and knowledge of training, clearances, and working space requirements.

Licenses / Certifications

• Valid driver’s license in the state with a satisfactory driving record.
• Valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• 3–5 years’ experience as a journeyman line‑man or 10 years’ experience in transmission and distribution line facilities.
• Basic electric theory, ability to identify and analyze electrical circuit problems, print reading skills, and moderate computer skills used in the linemen trade and office applications.
• Thorough knowledge of safety rules, regulations, energy‑control processes, company policies, work practices, and the Labor Agreement.
• Supervisory experience with leadership, teamwork, and strong oral and written communication skills.
