An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Street Department Supervisor to oversee maintenance operations, including pothole repair and asphalt overlay. This role requires strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of public works regulations. Summary
Responsible for the supervision of the Street Department's maintenance field operations, consisting of various programs - pothole repair, asphalt overlay, crack sealing, and cutouts. Ensures assigned areas of responsibility fully meet department goals and comply with laws, regulations, and best practices.
Pay Range: $49,400 - $71,552 (Depending on qualifications and experience)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervise all daily activities for street maintenance functions, which includes prioritizing and assigning work.
Makes hiring, disciplinary, and termination decisions or recommendations for assigned staff.
Proactively plan and execute work activities to ensure high quality work is produced that meets production and budget goals
Tracks equipment, labor, and materials used on various projects and work activities across all maintenance programs.
Collaborate with other department divisions to pursue maintenance tactics that maximize service life for pavement assets
Oversee and inspect the work of contractors designated to perform various maintenance activities
Coordinate cross-training and various other professional development initiatives for assigned staff.
Conduct frequent visits to work sites for inspection of work progress, quality, adherence to safety best practices, and conformance with city standards.
Ensure pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections are performed. Track daily vehicle and equipment utilization. Arrange for maintenance and repair of equipment.
Ensure all safety equipment is being used on a daily basis and safety procedures are in place and followed.
Investigates accidents and injuries involving assigned staff. Documents findings and compiles associated documentation
Provide quality customer service by promptly and professionally responding to customer issues.
Manage various workflows for addressing street and alley maintenance complaints
Place orders for materials, tools, and supplies that support maintenance programs; reviews and approves invoices for goods and services provided by vendors
Lead department response to weather emergencies and other critical incidents.
May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays to support special events, respond to natural disasters, critical incidents, and other emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
5 years of related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Education/ Experience:
5+ years of related experience
1+ years of supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision and safety methods and procedures
Extensive knowledge of City, State, and Federal Codes and Specifications relative to public works construction and maintenance
Extensive knowledge of Federal & State requirements for Safety (OSHA), Accessibility and Pollution Control
Extensive knowledge of public works construction means & methods
Extensive knowledge of construction scheduling, sequencing, and work planning
General knowledge of Quality Assurance & Control processes including specific material testing procedures
Skill in computer use and basic computer office software
Skill in high school level mathematics
Skill in utilizing a variety of tools and equipment appropriate to the work assigned
Ability to read and interpret contracts, specifications and construction plans
Ability to learn new technologies, procedures and specifications
Ability to work effectively with people in order to accomplish project goals
Ability to maintain a broad perspective on projects and anticipate problems
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
Ability to resolve conflicts in a professional manner
Ability to understand and implement verbal and written instructions
Ability to organize materials, equipment and subordinates in the completion of assigned jobs
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License with a Tanker Endorsement or the ability to obtain within six months of hire
Valid Class C Texas driver's license
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Majority of work is performed outside with exposure to risk. Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
