Job summary

PPL Electric Utilities Corp. is seeking a Location Supervisor to oversee high‑level electrical work across regional facilities.

You will supervise crews, ensure safe practices and drive reliability in service restoration efforts, with a focus on cost-effective operation and compliance with company policies. The role requires a engineering-minded leader with a track record in transmission and distribution environments, and a valid CDL with safe driving history.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 1 year electrical or mechanical operations and maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of energized and deenergized facilities; switching and tagging procedures; training, clearances and working space requirements.
  • Valid PA Driver's License with satisfactory driving record.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3-5 years’ journeyman experience or 10 years’ experience in transmission/distribution facilities.
  • Basic electric theory, trouble analysis, print reading and moderate computer skills.
  • Knowledge of safety rules, energy control process, company policies and labor agreement.
  • Supervisory experience with leadership and teamwork, communication skills both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction, installation, modification and repair of electrical facilities.
  • Respond to storm restoration efforts and lead crews.
  • Coordinate with designers to develop buildable designs within approved hours.
  • Apply safe work practices and develop safety awareness among subordinates.
  • Develop employees by leading, training, coaching and counseling.
  • Control costs through efficient use of personnel, equipment and materials.
  • Train and enforce safety rules and follow energy control processes.
  • Coordinate outages and switching with system operators and dispatch.
  • Complete administrative processes such as reviews, labor agreements and reporting.
  • Review with engineering staff to plan pre-job activities and approvals.

Overview

Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan. This position receives guidance and oversight from manager. Typically, does not perform the work being supervised.

Responsible to oversee highly skilled construction, installation, modification and repair of electrical facilities used in an electric utility in a safe, productive manner with high quality by supervising personnel in the electrical trades requiring initiative and sound judgement at all regional electrical facilities. Provides timely, cost effective and reliable service to customers internal and external to the Corporation.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the completion of capital and O&M work within the regions and outside business arenas for all electrical equipment used in an electric utility.
  • Responsible for timely response to storm restoration efforts in the region, including round-the-clock responsibility03/ as a Work
  • Location Supervisor to respond and lead crew efforts in restoring PPL facilities to normal operation.
  • Work directly with field and G.O. designers in developing a mutually agreeable design that can be built within the approved hours.
  • Responsible for the application of safe work practices on the job in compliance with the Company’s safety rules and develop a safety awareness on the part of subordinates.
  • Responsible for the development of employees by leading, training, motivating, coaching and counseling employees to satisfy the expectations of their positions.
  • Responsible for cost control through the effective and efficient application of personnel, equipment & materials to provide customer/client satisfaction and to ensure job quality and reliability.
  • Responsible for training and enforcement of the Company’s Safety Rules and Policies, local work procedures, environmental procedures, and follows the energy control process at all times.
  • Responsible for the coordination & scheduling of equipment outages and switching to ensure safety working environments thru constant communication with System Operating, Power Dispatchers. Transmission Control Center and Work Management.
  • Assures the timely completion of all administrative processes such as annual reviews, enforcement of the Labor Agreement, Time & Labor, tailboard documentation, progress reporting, etc.
  • Reviews and communicates with responsible engineering personnel to complete pre-job planning, monitor progress, resolve in progress problems and identify revisions to scope and obtains necessary approvals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree and 1 year electrical or mechanical operations and maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis.

2. Demonstrated expertise/knowledge of energized and deenergized facilities; switching and tagging procedures; knowledge of training, clearances and working space requirements.

3. Valid PA Driver's License w/ satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a journeyman in the linesman trade or 10 years’ experience in the transmission and distribution line facilities.
  • Basic electric theory, identify and analyze trouble in electrical circuits, print reading and moderate computer skills used in the linemen trade and office applications software.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety rules/regulations, energy control process, company policies, work practices and the labor agreement.
  • Supervisory experience with leadership and teamwork skills, communication skills both oral and written.
  • Possess valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License.
