Summary of Primary Functions

The Field Superintendent manages and directs subcontractors and employees to successfully execute field operations and complete projects in accordance with plans, blueprints, specifications, and company standards. This position is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, defect-free, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.

Territory

This position will be responsible for supporting the Austin, TX region.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provides guidance in the development of the erection process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontractor requirements, tooling, equipment, and other project needs.
  • Coordinates erection and field service activities with other functions of the organization to optimize the utilization of personnel, equipment, and resources.
  • Manages subcontractors and field employees to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Visits assigned job sites regularly, with a goal of daily visits when possible and a minimum of 2-3 visits per week, including FOB projects, as project needs dictate.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates subcontractors to support project schedules and successful project execution.
  • Coordinates preconstruction meetings and required field services, including review and coordination of subcontractor submittals.
  • Monitors subcontractor performance related to safety, quality, scope of work, schedules, and project requirements. Identifies scope creep and communicates concerns and quality issues to the appropriate plant and project personnel.
  • Ensures established cost, quality, schedule, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Coordinates field repairs in a timely manner with Engineering and other appropriate departments. Tracks repair materials and schedules and monitors repair work through completion and acceptance.
  • Proactively identifies and addresses punch-list items while projects are in progress to minimize delays and ensure timely project closeout.
  • Leads and supports the closeout process, including obtaining timely General Contractor and Architect sign-off and ensuring outstanding project items are resolved.
  • Performs administrative activities associated with effective management of field operations, including compiling, maintaining, storing, and retrieving project and field data for reports.
  • Provides input into the research and development of new and emerging products, processes, and field practices.
  • Trains and ensures assigned employees understand and comply with company, government, customer, safety, and quality policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Provides input into the development and execution of strategic plans for the erection division.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred. Training may be provided at management's discretion.
  • PCI Field Auditor certification preferred. Training may be provided at management's discretion.
Education
  • Four-year college degree preferred; equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Five to seven years of precast experience preferred.
Supervisory Experience
  • Three to five or more years of supervisory experience required.
Additional Qualifications
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate subcontractors, employees, customers, and internal departments.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory and visit active job sites.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, project schedules, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and related project documents.
