PowerGrid Services is seeking a Safety Specialist to lead safety on Substation Construction projects across the Eastern United States. The role provides hands-on safety leadership for direct-hire employees and subcontractors, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
• Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience.
• Experience supporting utility, energy, industrial, electrical, or construction projects.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, incident investigations, and risk assessment practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the Eastern United States.

Responsibilities

• Support and oversee safety programs on active substation construction projects
• Conduct safety observations, audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
• Develop, deliver, and document safety training and educational programs
• Lead incident, injury, property damage, and near-miss investigations
• Create and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)
• Partner with project teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks
• Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee engagement initiatives
• Monitor subcontractor safety performance and project compliance
• Maintain safety records, reports, metrics, and training documentation
• Promote continuous improvement through coaching, mentoring, and positive safety leadership

Skills

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certificate

5+ years construction safety

Experience with utility/energy/indust.

OSHA regulations knowledge
