Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC seeks a Staff Accountant I to support job costing, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end close. You will assist budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and ensure accurate recordings and reporting across finance and operations teams.

The role requires attention to detail, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities. Proficiency in Excel and related Office tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or 7+ years’ detailed experience in all phases of accounting and finance.
• (With a degree 1-3 years’ experience. Without a degree 7+ years of applied experience)
• Strong understanding of accruals, expense allocation
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and oversee a small staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and oversee Spectrum Accounting software.
• Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Equipment, General Ledger, Job Costing, Payroll, Inventory Control and Purchase Order modules.
• Weekly cost review, analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Contract Administration. Process both prime and subcontracts from initial award through legal review and final execution.
• Knowledge of FHWA 1273 reporting related to certified payrolls.
• New job set up/import.
• Daily interaction with management on issues related to all financial and related areas.
• Monitor and analyze monthly overhead spending vs. budget, and identify variances
• Year-end support with internal auditors.
• Special projects as assigned.
