Field Specialist IV - FPT

As a Field Specialist IV - FPT, you will coordinate and oversee field operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of pressure testing and valve service activities. You will serve as the technical lead at customer locations, working closely with operations teams, customers, and service personnel to deliver exceptional service and operational excellence.

You will be responsible for job planning, execution, troubleshooting, customer interaction, and leadership of field personnel while ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry standards.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Pressure Relief Valves (PRVs), Safety Valves, Control Valves, pressure testing, and field service operations to support critical customer assets. You will provide technical guidance, oversee testing and inspection activities, and ensure equipment reliability while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities, Authorities and Accountabilities
As a Field Specialist IV - FPT, you will be responsible for:
  • Coordinating and overseeing field operations at customer sites.
  • Providing quality service and technical support to customers during job execution.
  • Planning jobs, developing execution strategies, and ensuring required resources and equipment are available.
  • Directing and supervising service operators and field crews.
  • Leading pressure testing, valve testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
  • Managing customer communications before, during, and after job execution.
  • Coordinating equipment clean-up, maintenance, repair, and preparation for future assignments.
  • Supporting sales opportunities through customer engagement and technical consultation.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Evaluating crew performance and providing coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training.
  • Preparing technical reports, test records, and job documentation.
  • Identifying operational risks and implementing corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, Technical Diploma, Associate Degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of field service experience, preferably within valve services, pressure testing, flow pressure testing (FPT), or related oil & gas operations.
  • Must have hands-on experience with:
    • Pressure Relief Valves (PRVs)
    • Safety Relief Valves
    • Control Valves
  • Strong understanding of pressure testing procedures and industry standards.
  • Experience leading field crews and customer-facing operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and testing procedures.
  • Experience operating pressure testing equipment and troubleshooting field issues.
  • Hands-on experience in Stainless Steel Tubing Bending, fabrication, installation, and high-pressure tubing assembly.

Valve Testing and Inspection
Actuator Verification
  • Verify actuator stroke, bench set, and positioner calibration in accordance with manufacturer specifications before pressure testing activities.
Shell Testing
  • Perform shell testing by pressurizing the valve body to 1.5 O Maximum Rated Cold Working Pressure (CWP) with the valve partially open.
  • Ensure zero visible leakage through the valve body, shell, or packing.
Seat (Closure) Testing
  • Conduct seat leakage testing by pressurizing one side of the closed valve to 1.1 O Maximum CWP.
  • Understand and evaluate leakage performance against Class IV, Class V, and Class VI leakage criteria.
Pneumatic Testing
  • Perform pneumatic testing using air or inert gas at 60 to 100 PSI (4 to 7 bar).
  • Identify micro-leaks within valve seats, trim, packing, and sealing components.
Preferred Technical Skills
  • Pressure Relief Valve repair and testing.
  • Safety Valve calibration and certification.
  • Control Valve troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing.
  • Valve teardown, inspection, rebuilding, and assembly.
  • Instrumentation tubing installation and commissioning.
  • Stainless Steel Tubing Bending and Routing.
  • Tube fitting installation (Swagelok, Parker, equivalent).
  • Leak detection and troubleshooting.
  • Reading isometric drawings and tubing layouts.
  • High-pressure system installation and maintenance.
  • Crane, hoist, and material handling operations.
  • API standards knowledge and compliance.
