Job summary

Socket Fiber is seeking a Field Technician- Tier II to perform expert onsite installations for residential customers across Missouri. The role involves traveling to service areas, installing and configuring customer equipment, and delivering a superior customer experience during service visits.

This position requires lifting up to 70 lbs, operating bucket trucks, and working outdoors in various conditions. A valid driver's license is essential, with on-call rotations including nights and

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in telecommunications, installation, construction, or utility work.
• Valid driver's license with no restrictions.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather and in underground and aerial environments.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and operate a bucket truck.
• Flexible schedule, including Saturdays and Sundays.
• Willingness to obtain a Class E license if offered.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent installations and repairs for residential and business internet and phone services.
• Install and configure customer equipment, including routers, modems, and Wi‑Fi gateways.
• Deliver professional customer service during service visits.
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues accurately and efficiently.
• Install, terminate, and test network cabling per codes and standards.
• Complete accurate documentation of service activities.
• Safely operate company vehicles and equipment per safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean driving record and represent Socket in the field.

Job description

Socket is seeking a skilled Field Technician- Tier II to join our talented workforce. In this role, you'll deliver expert onsite installation services for residential customers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring a seamless experience for our customers as they connect to Socket's fiber network. This role will require travel to our various service areas and will be required to work in most conditions.

Location

This position supports service areas across our expanding Missouri markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform independent installations and repairs for residential and business internet and phone services.
• Install and configure customer equipment, including routers, modems, and Wi‑Fi gateways.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience by being professional, friendly, and knowledgeable during all service visits.
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity and service issues with accuracy and efficiency.

Experience/Knowledge Required

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in telecommunications, installation, construction, and utility work
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with no restrictions.
• Ability to participate in an on‑call rotation, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfortable and able to work in both underground and aerial environments (e.g., climbing ladders up to 32ft and operating a bucket truck).
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Able to enter and safely operate a bucket truck with a weight limit of 300 lbs.
• Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
• Willingness to obtain a class E license if offered

Preferences

• Demonstrated experience with CAT3 and CAT5 cabling, including installation, termination, and testing.
• Working knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and basic networking principles.
• Ability to test and install customer ADSL/xDSL circuit orders with the appropriate local exchange carrier (LEC).
• Knowledge of cable pulling, terminations, closet buildouts, and compliance with building and fire codes.
