Job summary

Socket Fiber seeks a skilled Field Services Technician - Tier II to perform expert onsite installation services for residential customers. You will install and configure customer equipment, diagnose connectivity issues, and deliver an exceptional customer experience as you work in various service areas across St.

Clair and surrounding areas. The role requires climbing ladders, operating a bucket truck, and lifting up to 70 lbs, with travel across service areas and exposure to outdoor conditions

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in telecommunications, installation, construction, or utility work.
• Valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Ability to participate in on-call rotations (nights, weekends, holidays).
• Able to work in underground and aerial environments (climb ladders up to 32 ft, operate a bucket truck).
• Outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Lift up to 70 lbs; bucket truck weight limit 300 lbs.
• Flexible schedule including Saturdays/Sundays.
• Willingness to obtain a Class E license if offered.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent installations and repairs for residential customers.
• Install and configure customer equipment (routers, modems, Wi‑Fi gateways).
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience—professional, friendly, and knowledgeable on visits.
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity and service issues accurately and efficiently.
• Install, terminate, and test network cabling per codes and standards.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation of service activities.
• Safely operate company vehicles and equipment in accordance with safety protocols and DOT/OSHA rules.
• Maintain a clean driving record and represent Socket with professionalism in the field.

Socket is seeking a skilled Field Services Technician- Tier II to join our talented workforce. In this role, you'll deliver expert onsite installation services for residential customers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring a seamless experience for our customers as they connect to Socket's fiber network. This role will require travel to our various service areas and will be required to work in most conditions.

Experience/Knowledge Required

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in telecommunications, installation, construction, and utility work
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Ability to participate in an on‑call rotation, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfortable and able to work in both underground and aerial environments (e.g., climbing ladders up to 32ft and operating a bucket truck).
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Able to enter and safely operate a bucket truck with a weight limit of 300 lbs.
• Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
• Willingness to obtain a class E license if offered.

Preferences

• Demonstrated experience with CAT3 and CAT5 cabling, including installation, termination, and testing.
• Working knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and basic networking principles.
• Ability to test and install customer ADSL/xDSL circuit orders with the appropriate local exchange carrier (LEC).
• Knowledge of cable pulling, terminations, closet buildouts, and compliance with building and fire codes.
