The Field Service and Support Engineer is primarily responsible for investigating, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving mechanical, electrical and software issues with our existing clients. This person is often the first point of contact for customers experiencing issues with their machinery. As such, the Field Services Eng needs to possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, have solid verbal and written communication skills and be able to work calmly when under pressure. This person is required to work online, on the phone and travel to customer sites where most of the work is completed. A person in this position will also be required to travel to customer sites to support initial installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Location

A person in this role can expect to be able to work from our office in Bloomington and traveling to customer sites up to 35% of the time.

Reporting

The Field Services and Support Engineer would report to the General Manager of Vekta USA with a dotted line to the Manager of Customer Service for technical matters and to be a part of the larger global support team.

Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to the following)

• Provide timely, exceptional customer service in person, over the phone, and online
• Use ticketing system to record issues, solutions and track time on projects
• Take ownership of issues and work with our development group to resolve more advanced issues when necessary
• Mechanical, Electrical and Computer aptitude
• Breakdown investigative work and repairs
• Ability to troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical issues
• Machinery installation
• Safety in everything we do ourselves and for our customers
• Creating and maintaining technical procedures and processes
• Identifying product improvements and working with appropriate teams to get these made actionable
• Mechanical Experience: assembly, hand and power tools, site work
• Electrical: use a multimeter, fault finding, read an electrical schematic, experience with PLC systems
• Able to work independently as well as with other employees, management, suppliers and with a close attention to detail
• Computer: Programming experience with C++, above average computer skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechatronics, specialization is preferred)
• Electrical ticket experience (preferred but not essential)
• Experience servicing/ maintaining automated machinery (preferred but not essential)
• Experience in customer service (preferred but not essential) Registration/Licensing requirements:
• Driver’s License valid in state/ country of operation is a condition of employment
• A valid passport or the ability to qualify for one
• Able to work independently as well as with other employees, management, suppliers and with a close attention to detail
