Job summary

Yancey Bros. Co. is seeking a Field Service Truck Technician to perform on-site repairs at customer facilities in Georgia and surrounding areas. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain school buses and Cummins engines while delivering excellent customer service.

The role requires a strong sense of urgency, reliable teamwork, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Eligible for overtime and after-hours calls as needed, with comprehensive benefits and ongoing training opportunities.

Role Summary

As a Field Service Truck Technician, you will perform truck repairs at customer facilities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work in a neat and orderly manner, maintaining a safe work environment and a constant focus on completing tasks safely.
  • Proficiently and accurately perform maintenance, diagnose, and repairs.
  • Apply specific failure analysis techniques and procedures to determine root causes and relay information to customers and office personnel.
  • Care for and maintain customer machines/equipment to the highest standards and ensure co‑workers do the same.
  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
  • Write full reports on findings from field service events, with clear, concise information.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers on the status of their maintenance and/or repairs.
  • Willing to work overtime as required and to be available for after‑hours calls as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in required safety program and work in a safe manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications & Experience

To be successful, you should have prior experience diagnosing and repairing school buses and Cummins engines, knowledge of applicable tools, and a desire to learn. You should possess a strong sense of urgency and a commitment to superior customer service. Ability to take direction and work in a team environment is essential.

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • Valid, active driver's license.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must clear driver screenings and provide necessary information for a complete DQ file, including:
    • Road test administered by Yancey personnel.
    • Background check and MVR with less than 10 points.
    • DOT physical.
    • Drug screen.
  • Must not be disqualified to drive a CMV under 49 CFR 391.15.
  • Technical knowledge of school bus systems.
  • Strong diesel engine knowledge (preferably Cummins medium duty).
  • Strong technical and mechanical ability.
  • Able to work with very little supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • High level of responsiveness and a strong proactive attitude to problem solving.
  • Committed to quality and high attention to detail.
  • Ability and motivation to learn quickly.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  • Technical degree or certification is a plus.
  • CDL is a plus, but not required.
