Job description

Field Service Technician

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Department: Field Service

Site: Wamart

Position Summary

The Field Service Technician will support our fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks, including performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. Responsibilities include installation, servicing, reporting breakdowns, parts ordering, and maintenance at a specific location. The role involves significant interaction with customer personnel and lift truck operators, requiring excellent technical, communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites.
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to ensure fleet performance.
  • Execute specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and upgrades.
  • Provide on-call and emergency support to customers as needed.
  • Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for service support.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage, electrical systems, and fueling systems.
  • Maintain communication with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding support.
  • Provide feedback to regional service teams on fuel cell performance and issues.
  • Complete administrative duties such as incident reports, service logs, and documentation.
  • Adhere to and enforce safety procedures in the field.
  • Travel as required, driving safely and following traffic laws.
  • Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
  • At least three years of experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Training and education may substitute experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
  • Knowledge of lift trucks is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with computer systems (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving creativity, independence, and dedication to quality.
  • Excellent time management, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Own standard tools; specific fuel cell tools provided by Plug Power.

Pay Rate: $24.00 - $28.00
