Job summary

PEAK Technical Services Inc. is seeking a field service technician to join our Crane & Hoist team in the Saint Paul, MN area.

You will perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs at customer sites, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, and provide practical safety recommendations to customers. You will travel approximately 5–7 overnights per month across the Midwest, with company vehicles and stipends provided.

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel ~5–7 overnights per month across the Midwest; company vehicles and stipends provided.
• Experience with electrical controls (variable frequency drives, contactors, transformers) and ability to troubleshoot electrical issues.
• Comfortable working at heights and performing field service at customer sites.
• Must pass initial drug screening and random testing; able to pass DOT physical.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic systems using tests and procedures.
• Advise customers on repairs and safety improvements for material handling applications.
• Document service activities using company digital tools.
• Identify value‑added solutions and report leads to service office.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and support sales/management as needed.
• Manage inventory in service vehicles, including cycle counts and stocking.
• Assist with daily/work lists and inspections for trailers and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at various customer locations.
• Conduct on-site electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic troubleshooting to identify equipment malfunctions and determine necessary repairs using visual inspection, test procedures, and appropriate test equipment.
• Consult with customers about repair and safety-related issues and provide recommendations to improve their material handling applications before leaving the job site.
• Complete and provide proper electronic documentation using established company digital tools required for each service.
• Identify opportunities for value-added solutions during service visits and report leads to the service office following established guidelines.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings.
• Support outside sales staff and management.
• Manage and maintain inventory in service vehicles, including cycle counts, stocking/back-stocking, and bin locating for all facets of truck inventory.
• Assist with daily/monthly work lists, including trailer, man lift, and truck checklists and inspections, when applicable.

Qualifications

• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 5-7 overnights per month throughout the Midwest to service customers. Company vehicles and stipends are provided.
• Experience with electrical controls, specifically variable frequency drives, magnetic contactors, POC's, 230/460 volt, and transformers.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues.
• Comfortable working at heights while reaching overhead.
• Must undergo initial drug screening and random testing.
• Ability to pass DOT physical.
• Maintain a good driving record, including a valid driver's license.
• Ability to work varied overtime as required by the customer and travel/work out of town regularly.

Pay Range

$25-$30 per hour, based on experience.
