Job summary

Service Station Systems, Inc. (SSS), a company under Northwest Pump, is seeking a Field Service Technician in Sacramento, CA. You will perform routine maintenance on fuel dispensers, troubleshoot leaks, install pumps, and service POS and electronic devices at customer sites.

The role requires daily driving to sites with occasional overnight stays (paid). No formal education is required; strong mechanical skills and basic computer use are valued.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical skills with hand tools (wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers) and some basic power tools.
  • Basic computer skills: ability to use laptops/tablets (iPad, phone) proficiently.
  • Experience in related industries a plus (construction, automotive, maintenance, etc.). No formal education, trade licenses, or certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on fuel dispensers (Wayne, Gilbarco).
  • Replace nozzles and breakaway hoses; replace O-rings, gaskets, and basic piping fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fuel dispenser leaks; replace meters, filters, and faulty sensors.
  • Assist with tank monitoring and sump pump operations; install or replace sump pumps.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues at dispensers or POS systems; replace components and measure voltages.
  • Follow job documents and safety protocols; take notes and update systems with laptop or iPad.
  • Maintain company vehicle; drive to customer sites daily with occasional overnight stays (paid).

Job Details:
  • $26-$28 an hour to start, with $2-$3 an hour conditional increase within 12 months.
  • Reports to: Sacramento, CA location
  • Shifts: Sunday — Thursday (days & nights) & Tuesday-Saturday (days & nights) 730-4pm or 6pm-230am.
Job Duties (Training is provided):
  • Perform routine maintenance on fuel dispensers (Wayne, Gilbarco, etc.), including replacing nozzles and breakaway hoses.
  • Use hand tools (wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers) and power tools (drills) for maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fuel dispenser leaks, such as leaking nozzles, pumps, valves. Replace O-rings, gaskets, and basic piping fixtures.
  • Assist with tank monitoring and sump pump operations. Install or replace sump pumps.
  • Perform pressure testing, replace meters, filters and faulty sensors.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues at dispensers or Point of Sale (POS) systems. Replace electrical components and perform basic voltage measurements using a voltmeter/multimeter.
  • Follow job documents and safety protocols, take detailed job notes and update relevant systems with laptop or ipad. Set up safety equipment and barricades as needed.
  • Maintain a well-organized and fully stocked company vehicle, ensuring it is clean and functional.
  • Drive to customer sites and shop locations daily, with occasional overnight stays (paid).

Your Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Skills — experience and knowledge of hand tools of all kinds (wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers) and some basic power tools (drills) is required.
  • Basic Computer Skills — ability to use laptops and other electronic devices (iPad, phone) proficiently is required.
  • Experience in related industries is a plus (construction, automotive, manufacturing, warehouse, HVAC, electrical, maintenance, etc.). Hobbies related to mechanical, automotive, electrical, carpentry, etc. are relevant for the role.
