Job summary

Otovo is hiring a Field Service Technician to service and repair residential and commercial solar systems in Palm Springs, CA and the Coachella Valley. You will troubleshoot inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipment, performing maintenance and upgrades while ensuring NEC and utility compliance.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years electrical experience, a clean driving record, and strong communication skills to explain repairs to homeowners. Travel locally and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of electrical experience and knowledge of NEC/AHJ requirements.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication and customer service skills; travel locally and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance including cleaning, inspections, testing, and battery health checks.
• Commission new systems and upgrades in compliance with NEC and utility requirements.
• Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters and thermal imaging to assess systems.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation with photos.
• Follow safety procedures including PPE, lockout/tagout, and fall protection.
• Respond to emergency service calls and warranty repairs as needed.
• Communicate clearly with homeowners about system status and recommendations.
• Represent Otovo professionally at customer sites.

Position Summary

Location: Palm Springs, CA and the Coachella Valley

Otovo is seeking a skilled and dependable Field Service Technician to join our growing renewable energy team in Palm Springs, CA. In this role, you'll service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage solutions, and generators.

This position is ideal for an experienced electrical professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex problems, and delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the transition to clean energy.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipment

• Perform preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing, and battery health assessments

• Commission new systems and upgrades while ensuring compliance with NEC, AHJ, and utility requirements

• Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging equipment

• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and photo documentation

• Follow all safety procedures including PPE usage, lockout/tagout processes, and fall protection requirements

• Respond to emergency service calls and warranty-related repairs as needed

• Communicate effectively with homeowners and customers regarding system status and repair recommendations

• Represent Otovo professionally at customer sites
