Role Summary

The Field Service Technician IV will be responsible for overdelivering on the internal and external customer experience at our service locations. The ideal candidate will possess technical acumen and the ability to provide excellent customer service. If you are quick-thinking, proactive, communicative, and passionate about adventure, we want you on the team. You will work with internal partners daily to assist with service needs and coordinate with our Service, Vehicle, Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineer teams. This role requires a dynamic leader with excellent communication skills, fostering cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement to support Service teams and customers. To succeed, you must have a customer-first approach, thrive in ambiguous environments, and handle challenges creatively and flexibly. Experience in automotive, process standardization, continuous improvement, and managing escalations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality and safety
  • Perform complex diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles
  • Conduct vehicle repairs outside of a service center setting
  • Perform road tests to ensure repair quality
  • Manage parts operations including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory
  • Stay updated with technical skills and training
  • Support campaigns and containment initiatives
  • Maintain accurate expense reports as needed
  • Work with high-quality standards and efficiency with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Provide service support to the field and support the Service organization
  • Communicate professionally in a customer-facing environment
  • Document repairs accurately and comprehensively
  • This role may transition from remote to on-site work, depending on the location of the service center within 90 miles or 2 hours of the employee’s remote work location.
  • Travel to support locations as required until the local Service Center opens, including production plants
  • Operate remotely if applicable until the service center opening

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED preferred
  • Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school preferred
  • Leadership, mentorship, and influencing experience preferred
  • 5+ years automotive experience preferred
  • 3+ years working on high voltage systems and diagnostics preferred
  • Proficient with laptops or computers in Windows or Mac environments
  • Experience with test tools (PICO-Scope, PCAN, Kavaser Memorator, etc.)
  • Extensive diagnosis and repair experience from bumper to bumper
  • Ability to drive non-commercial trucks and trailers preferred
  • Limited travel may be required based on business needs
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record
  • No recent driving suspensions or license revocations within 3-5 years
  • Parts department and billing experience preferred
  • Experience with work order management systems and repair documentation
  • Start-up environment experience preferred
  • Remain positive in difficult situations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
  • Physical ability to perform occupational tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs, etc.)
  • Proficiency in reading and speaking fluent English
  • Ability to interpret documents such as regulations, schematics, etc.
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Availability for a 40-hour weekly schedule, including weekends and holidays, with shifts potentially in evenings, overnights, or early mornings

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range: $36-$47 hourly (actual pay based on experience and other factors).
