Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a Field Service Technician III to perform maintenance and technical support on our products at customer and field locations. You will install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment and subsystems, and provide onsite training while building strong customer relationships.

The role requires travel outside the continental US, potential extended deployments, and the ability to obtain a US security clearance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred is a plus.
  • 3+ years as a technician or in a related field; relevant higher degree may substitute.
  • Ability to read basic schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and publications.
  • Willingness to travel outside the continental US, including OCONUS deployments.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain US government security clearance.

Job description

If you have a keen eye for the big picture, excellent technical data analysis skills, and enjoy working collaboratively, we may have the perfect role for you! As a Field Service Technician III, you will be using your skills and expertise to perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on our products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. You'll be responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying our products and updating and tracking the status of all field related equipment. You'll build and maintain effective relationships with our customers and provide them with onsite training. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end‑to‑end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations – with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience as a technician or in a related field.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Ability to understand and interpret basic technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Progressive experience using troubleshooting techniques.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical wiring concepts.
  • Ability to frequently travel outside the continental US, typically for extended periods of time.
  • Please be advised that this position may require deployment for a period of up to 90 days OCONUS, depending on mission needs.
  • Deployment is not guaranteed and will be determined at the discretion of the supervisor or management, or as otherwise specified.
  • Ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations.
  • Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
  • Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required.

  • Ability to obtain a current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.
  • A United States Government Security Clearance is required for employment.
  • Applicants who do not currently have a USG security clearance are welcome to apply and, if selected, will be processed for a USG security clearance by SNC prior to employment. Employment will begin once the USG security clearance is granted. If applicant is unable to obtain USG security clearance, the offer of employment will be withdrawn.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Associate's degree in a related field of study
  • Experience with FCC or FCC GROL
  • Prior experience with Security+, Network+, CCNA and/or A+
  • Basic understanding of Spectrometer, Oscilloscope and/or Pilot Static Equipment gauges
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
