Role Summary

The Field Service Technician III will be responsible for exceeding customer experience expectations at our service locations. The ideal candidate combines technical skills with excellent customer service, a go-getter attitude, quick thinking, strong communication, and a passion for adventure. You will collaborate daily with internal partners to address service needs and coordinate with Service, Vehicle, Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineer teams. This role demands a dynamic, resourceful leader with superb communication skills, fostering cross-functional collaboration and a culture of continuous improvement to support Service teams and customers. Success in this role requires a customer-first mindset, adaptability in ambiguous situations, and a creative, flexible approach. Experience in automotive repair, process standardization, continuous improvement, and managing escalations is advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality and safety
  • Perform or assist with diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles
  • Support vehicle repairs outside of a service center setting
  • Conduct road tests to ensure repair quality
  • Manage parts operations including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory
  • Stay updated with technical skills and training
  • Support campaigns and containment initiatives
  • Maintain accurate expense reports
  • Deliver high-quality work independently
  • Collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Provide service support to the field and Service organization
  • Communicate professionally in a customer-facing environment
  • Document repairs accurately
  • This role may transition from remote to on-site work at a nearby service center within 90 miles or 2 hours
  • Travel to support locations as needed until local service centers are established, including production plants
  • Operate remotely if applicable until on-site work begins
Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or GED preferred
  • Automotive repair school graduate preferred
  • 5+ years in automotive repair preferred
  • Proficient with hand and power tools
  • Computer skills in Windows or Mac environments
  • Basic diagnosis and workflow knowledge
  • Ability to read electrical schematics
  • Experience with diagnostics, high/low voltage systems, tire repair, vehicle alignment, and hybrid systems is a plus
  • Understanding of vehicle electronic communications like CAN Bus
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record; ability to drive trucks/trailers preferred
  • Experience with parts and billing systems beneficial
  • Start-up environment experience advantageous
  • Patience, eagerness to learn, positivity, organizational skills, and physical ability to perform occupational tasks are required
  • Fluent in English, with good document reading and interpretation skills
  • Minimum age 21
  • Availability for 40 hours/week, including weekends and holidays, with shifts potentially in evenings, overnights, or early mornings
Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for Washington Applicants: $33.29 - $38.10 per hour (based on experience, location, and other factors).

Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for full-time employees and dependents, effective from first day, with premiums covered mostly by Rivian.
