Role Summary

The Field Service Technician II will be responsible for overdelivering on the internal and external customer experience at our service locations. The ideal candidate will possess the technical acumen and the ability to provide a strong level of customer service. If you're able to think quickly on your feet, have a go-getter attitude, possess great communication skills, and have a passion for adventure, then we want you on the team. You will work with internal partners daily to assist with service needs and coordinate with our Service, Vehicle and Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineer teams. This role requires a dynamic and resourceful leader with excellent communication skills, who fosters cross-functional interaction and champions continuous improvement to support Service teams and customers within a Service center. Success in this role requires a customer-first approach, adaptability in ambiguous environments, and a creative, flexible mindset. Experience in automotive, process standardization, continuous improvement, and managing escalations is a plus.

Responsibilities
  1. Follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality and safety.
  2. Perform or assist with diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles.
  3. Support vehicle repairs outside of a service center setting.
  4. Conduct road tests to ensure repair quality.
  5. Manage parts operations including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory.
  6. Explain the Rivian product line, EV framework, tools, and accessories.
  7. Stay updated with technical skills and training requirements.
  8. Support campaigns and containment initiatives.
  9. Maintain accurate expense reporting.
  10. Work with minimal supervision maintaining high quality and efficiency.
  11. Ensure proper documentation and technical notes for internal and external use.
  12. Provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  13. Work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  14. Support field service operations.
  15. Communicate professionally in a customer-facing environment.
  16. Travel and support as needed, including until local Service Centers open.
  17. Document repairs and service activities thoroughly.
  18. Transition to on-site work if required, within 90 miles or 2 hours of the remote location.
  19. Travel to support locations as required.
  20. Operate remotely until local service centers are operational, if applicable.
Qualifications
  1. HS Diploma or GED preferred.
  2. Graduation from an automotive repair school preferred.
  3. 3+ years of hands-on automotive work, with experience in the field a plus.
  4. Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  5. Knowledge of diagnosis and workflows.
  6. Ability to read electrical schematics.
  7. Exposure to diagnostics at an entry level.
  8. Understanding of high and low voltage electricity basics.
  9. Ability to perform tire repairs and vehicle alignments.
  10. Driving license with ability to drive trucks and trailers preferred.
  11. Availability for 40 hours/week, including weekends and holidays, with shifts possibly in evenings, overnights, or early mornings.
  12. Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  13. Parts and billing experience preferred.
  14. Experience with work order management systems.
  15. Start-up environment experience preferred.
  16. Patience and eagerness to learn.
  17. Strong organization and time management skills.
  18. Physical ability to perform occupational tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs, etc.).
  19. Good manual dexterity and ability to interpret documents and schematics.
  20. Availability for a full-time schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  21. Minimum age of 21.
  22. No recent driving suspensions or license revocations within 3-5 years.
Pay Disclosure

Night shifts include a 20% shift differential. For California applicants, the hourly rate ranges from $31.69 to $36.27, based on experience and location.
