Role Summary:

The Field Service Technician will provide hands-on technical and operations support of Reciprocating Compression equipment and supporting utility systems within customer facilities during commissioning, start-up, operations, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance testing, and troubleshooting as required.

Responsibilities:
  1. Planning and execution of site installation activities for Reciprocating Compression equipment.
  2. Investigate and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment.
  3. Perform preventative maintenance to eliminate future operational or service difficulties.
  4. Diagnose and correct engine and compressor problems using standard troubleshooting processes.
  5. Perform testing of equipment in the field.
  6. Carry out minor and major repairs or corrective maintenance on customer equipment, including reciprocating engines and compressors.
  7. Complete daily safety checks and report safety concerns.
  8. Monitor operating variables and process data to ensure units operate within design parameters.
  9. Attend operations meetings with client personnel to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  10. Participate in construction activities to ensure process and safety designs are followed and suggest improvements based on field experience.
  11. Share and implement best practices with the Reciprocating Compression Engineering, Sales, and Operations teams.
  12. Build relationships with customer contacts to proactively manage issues and cultivate relationships.
  13. Support turn-around activities, including equipment inspection, procedure writing, and justification.
Qualifications:
  1. 0-1 years of experience in Reciprocating Compression.
  2. Meet all FST I sublevel requirements.
  3. Attributes: safety-focused, service-oriented, business-minded, self-starter, dependable, mature, organized, results-oriented, good communicator.
  4. Education: Associate’s Degree in a technical field (Bachelor’s preferred) or equivalent work experience; formal technical training; experience in oil and gas industry or related field.
  5. Core competencies include basic tools, engine & compressor theory, product knowledge (e.g., Cooper Bessemer, Ajax, etc.), shop math, basic computer skills, documentation skills, leadership, engine balancing, web deflection/alignment, and familiarity with service bulletins.
