Job summary

FLANDERS is seeking a Field Service Technician I in Casper, Wyoming. You will diagnose, repair, install and remove electromechanical motors and equipment at customer sites, with supervision from higher-level technicians. Travel and field work are required, with a focus on safety and ISO standards.

You will read scopes, document results, and support our customers by providing reliable service and technical guidance. Flexibility, teamwork, and strong communication are essential in this role.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or trade school in electrical/mechanical studies preferred.
  • Two years hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical equipment.
  • AC and/or DC knowledge preferred, including motors/equipment.
  • Vibration certification may be required based on location.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform basic math and read/write instructions.

What We Are Looking For

Our Casper, Wyoming Field Service team has an opening for a Field Service Technician I. The Field Service Technician I will provide customer on‑site diagnosis, maintenance, repair, installation, and/or removal of basic and routine electromechanical motors and equipment. This position will also partner with Technician II and III's and Foreman on complex jobs. The Technician may work independently on smaller accounts and/or less complex jobs.

Here's What You'll Do
  • Read work scopes to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, description of problems, and/or expected serviceability.
  • Analyze and diagnose motors and equipment prior to repair and/or removal.
  • Determine if repairs can be completed in the field or if equipment needs to be sent to the shop for repair.
  • Disassemble basic and routine electromechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration, and condition. Assist in the disassembly of more complex equipment.
  • Properly mark parts, take photos, and thoroughly complete paperwork to ensure accurate job completion that meets company and ISO standards.
  • Repair, install, and/or remove basic and routine motors and equipment. Assist in the repair, installation, and/or removal of more complex equipment.
  • Perform basic testing of electromechanical equipment and document results accordingly.
  • Troubleshoot known or suspected equipment problems.
  • Operate Megger, DC Hypot, Surge Tester, AC Hypot Volt-Ohm Meter, Amp Meters, and Feeler Gauges as needed.
  • Under supervision, connect leads and test run equipment on proper voltage.
  • Identify abnormalities during test runs including heat, rubbing, noise, and other issues.
  • Retest reassembled electromechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
  • Read and draw diagrams of motors and parts.
  • Clean electromechanical equipment assemblies using various methods including parts washers/steamers, caustic tanks, and glass beaders.
  • Inspect parts for wear and damage and document findings.
  • Measure for and identify proper replacement parts.
  • Requisition needed items as approved by the Foreman.
  • Store parts accurately according to job status or work scope while ensuring ISO standards are met.
  • Under supervision, lift, tighten, adjust, and/or secure heavy objects to perform work duties.
  • Maintain thorough paperwork throughout the repair process, including test sheets and quality control documentation.
  • Perform motor circuit analysis using PdMA equipment as required by location and customer needs.
  • Perform vibration monitoring and analysis as required by location and customer needs.
  • Perform thermography imaging as required by location and customer needs.
  • Assist with installation of electrical control components.
  • Perform cryogenic cleaning as required.
  • Advise customers on FLANDERS products and services and refer customers to Sales and Engineering as needed.
  • Observe all safety procedures and utilize proper safety equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
  • Operate and maintain equipment safely at company and customer locations.
  • Follow all customer‑specific site safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote a strong company image and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
  • Provide outstanding customer service at all times.
  • Perform work according to established company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Here's What You'll Need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree and/or trade school degree in electrical or mechanical studies preferred.
  • Two years of hands‑on experience with mechanical or electrical equipment.
  • AC and/or DC knowledge preferred, including experience working with small or large horsepower motors and equipment.
  • Based on location, may require Vibration Institute Certification Category I or progress toward certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work directly with customers at customer sites.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team on complex customer projects.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages.
