Role Summary

The Field Service Technician I will be responsible for overdelivering on the customer experience at our service locations. The ideal candidate will possess technical skills and excellent customer service abilities. If you're quick-thinking, proactive, communicative, and passionate about adventure, we want you on the team. You will collaborate with internal partners to address service needs and coordinate with Service, Vehicle, Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineer teams. This role requires a resourceful leader with strong communication skills, fostering cross-functional interaction and a culture of continuous improvement to support Service teams and customers. Success in this role requires a customer-first mindset, adaptability in ambiguous environments, and a creative, flexible approach. Experience in automotive repair, process standardization, continuous improvement, and managing escalations is advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality and safety
  • Perform or assist with diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles
  • Support vehicle repairs outside of a service center setting
  • Conduct road tests to ensure repair quality
  • Manage parts operations including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory
  • Stay updated with technical skills and training
  • Support campaigns and containment initiatives
  • Maintain accurate expense reports
  • Build peer relationships and work under mentorship
  • Maintain high-quality work with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Provide service support to the field to assist the Service organization
  • Communicate professionally in a customer-facing environment
  • Document repairs accurately
  • This role may transition between remote and on-site work, depending on the location of the service center within 90 miles or 2 hours of the employee's remote work location.
  • Travel to support locations, including production plants, until a local Service Center opens
Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or GED preferred
  • Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school preferred
  • At least one year of automotive repair experience preferred
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Ability to drive non-commercial trucks and trailers preferred
  • Availability for a 40-hour workweek, including weekends and holidays; shifts may vary
  • Ability to travel within the U.S. and Canada
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record
  • Experience with work order management systems
  • Experience in start-up environments preferred
  • Patience and eagerness to learn
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Physical ability to perform occupational tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs)
  • Minimum age of 21
  • No recent driving suspensions or revocations
  • Fluent in English, both reading and speaking
Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Applicants: $28.13 - $32.19 per hour, based on experience and location.
