The Field Serviceman will troubleshoot and repair the various product lines sold and/or supported by the division. This includes, but is not limited to, CAT engines, air compressors, switchgear, and generator ends. Field Service Technicians work from an Ohio CAT service truck in the natural elements.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience with hands-on mechanical repair work with diesel, power generator, HVAC, or industrial equipment, or graduation from an accredited technical school (minimum two-year program), with emphasis on diesel engine or power generator repair, and two years of experience.
  • A valid Commercial Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record by Ohio CAT standards (4 or fewer moving violation points) is required.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Electrical Power Generator service/repair knowledge required, preferably with CAT equipment, from 5KW-2MG.
  • HVAC/Chiller service/repair knowledge is a plus.
  • Engine and mechanical component rebuild is a plus.
  • Experience with diagnosis/troubleshooting using computer equipment is required.
  • Must be able to analyze symptoms and probable causes, and make accurate and timely repairs.
  • Desire and ability to present strong customer service skills.
  • Follow all Ohio CAT’s policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Must own and safely use personal mechanic’s tools. “Safely Home, Everyone, Every Day”

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting/Carrying 40 lbs. Lift/Carry and 50lb pull
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Dexterity Normal
  • Frequent standing/sitting up and down stairs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
