Job summary

CherCo is seeking motivated field service technicians in Carthage, TX, and nearby areas to maintain and repair natural gas engines and compressors. Experience with Caterpillar 3500 is preferred; candidates should reside within one hour of the service area.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, reporting, and ensuring customer satisfaction with on-site service. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3–5+ years of related experience.
• Experience with Murphy EICS, Centurion, and Altronic systems.
• Experience with Caterpillar 3500, 379, 398, 399 and 3300 series engines.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive and corrective field mechanical service on gas compression units.
• Diagnose engine/compressor failures accurately and efficiently; perform overhauls.
• Submit accurate maintenance reports, expense reports, and timesheets daily.
• Manage inventory of parts and tools to ensure availability without excess.
• Coordinate unit start-up testing and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Provide professional customer service and communicate clearly on-site.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

CherCo is seeking motivated individuals in Carthage, TX, and the surrounding area. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting, routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on natural gas engines and compressors. Caterpillar 3500 experience preferred. This is not a rotation position. You must live within one hour of the designated service area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

may include any or all of the following.

• Perform scheduled preventive and corrective field mechanical service on gas compression units.
• Always represent the Company professionally and provide outstanding customer service while performing all assigned tasks.
• Responsible for submitting accurate maintenance reports, expense reports, timesheets, and other necessary paperwork daily.
• Inventory control – manage the supply, storage, and accessibility of parts and tools to ensure adequate availability for work without excessive oversupply or shrinkage.
• Diagnose engine/compressor failures accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct timely rebuilds/overhauls of compressors, engines, and controls on gas compressor packages in the shop.
• Respond to recurring problems and emergency services, as needed.
• Help coordinate the setting of new units and conduct start-up testing.
• Other duties may include mechanical and electrical assignments related to natural gas compressor systems and associated equipment.

• Proven knowledge of machines and tools, materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of compression units.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3-5+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience with Murphy EICS, Centurion, and Altronic systems. Experience with Ariel, Gemini, Ajax, Caterpillar 3500, 379, 398, 399, and 3300 series engines and compressors

Computer skills

• Adequate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications.

Certifications & Licenses

• Valid Driver’s License.
