Rohde & Schwarz USA’s critical infrastructure business unit is expanding and seeking talent with networking and software system integration experience. This opening is for a Field Service Technician to support our Air Traffic Control (ATC) programs. Strong candidates will have experience with IP-based voice communication systems, be goal oriented, and customer focused. The position requires extensive travel to airports all over the Western United States; candidates can be based anywhere within a commutable distance of a major international airport West of the Continental Divide. Candidates must be a US person capable of receiving a U.S. Government public trust clearance.
Your tasks
- Conduct on-site or in-house site surveys, installation and repair of equipment/systems to ensure it meets Rohde & Schwarz’ high standards of performance
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform repairs and complete preventative maintenance
- Provide remote support to customers and complete service tickets in the ticketing system
- Available to support a 24x7 on-call schedule together with a team, and respond to on-demand travel for service actions
- Understand complex system architecture and apply that to diagnostic process
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and electrical schematics to ensure proper installation
- Represent the company in a customer support role and is responsible for customer’s satisfaction with equipment and servicing
- Accurately prepare daily logs and reports of work performed, including hours spent and inventory used for each assignment
- Ability to work independently on moderately complex projects
- Effectively communicate with customers in a professional business environment
Your Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in systems repair, maintenance, and installation
- Familiarity with ATC systems installation and service is a plus
- Experience conducting site surveys
- Hands on experience with electrical, mechanical and construction related projects
- Understanding of IP Networking and network configuration principles
- Basic understanding of RF concepts and devices
- Excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently on customer sites under high stress
- Can effectively use standard professional software such as Microsoft Office products and ticketing systems
- Ability to travel a minimum of 50%, primarily domestic travel with occasional international travel
- Ability to travel on short notice
- Ability to work outside standard working hours, on holidays and weekends
- Must be capable of lifting up to 75 pounds.
- Must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials
- Within commute distance of a major international airport
- In order to be considered, candidates must be a US person capable of receiving a U.S. Government public trust clearance.

The total compensation for this position is $27-$48/hr. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
