Job description

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Department: Field Service

Site: Amazon DEN8 in Aurora, CO

Position Summary

The Field Service Technician supports fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks, performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. Responsibilities include installation, servicing, reporting breakdown events, parts ordering, and maintenance at a specific location. This role involves significant interaction with customer personnel and electric lift truck operators, requiring excellent technical, communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites.
  2. Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet at a specific location.
  3. Execute specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and upgrades to fuel cells.
  4. Provide on-call and emergency support to customers as needed.
  5. Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer support.
  6. Troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage, electrical systems, and fueling systems.
  7. Communicate with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding fuel cell support.
  8. Report on fuel cell performance and maintenance issues to regional representatives.
  9. Complete administrative duties, including incident reports, service logs, and documentation.
  10. Enforce safety procedures in the field and at customer sites.
  11. Travel as required, driving safely and adhering to traffic laws.
  12. Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent with electrical coursework.
  2. Minimum three years of experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  3. Formal training may substitute for experience.
  4. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to operate a vehicle safely.
  5. Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
  6. Knowledge of lift trucks is preferred.
  7. Mechanical aptitude and computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  9. Problem-solving creativity and ability to work independently.
  10. Dedicated to quality, punctuality, and reliability.
  11. Own standard set of tools; specific fuel cell tools provided by Plug Power.

Pay Rate: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
