Job summary

TEC Equipment Rental is seeking a Field Service Technician to repair, diagnose, inspect, and maintain a range of aerial and earth moving equipment primarily servicing rentals and customer-owned assets. You will ensure safety, quality control, and environmental compliance across service tasks.

The role requires reading electrical/hydraulic schematics, working independently with tools, and delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining strong communication with clients and team members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; further training or certification is a plus.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance and servicing equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment, hydraulics and electrical systems beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Repair, diagnose, inspect, and maintain various types of aerial and earth moving equipment used for rentals.
• Ensure safety, quality control, and environmental programs are followed during service.
• Read electrical and hydraulic schematics to troubleshoot equipment.
• Use tools and solutions independently with minimal supervision.
• Complete thorough annual inspections and document findings.
• Troubleshoot equipment product lines and communicate effectively with customers.
• Deliver excellent customer service and maintain positive, cooperative relationships.

Description of Position

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for repairing, diagnosing, inspecting, and maintaining various types of aerial and earth moving equipment, primarily servicing rentals and customer-owned equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, diagnostics, inspections, and overall maintenance of the company’s equipment inventory.
• Ensure safety, quality control, and environmental protection programs are followed throughout all services.
• Demonstrate ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Proficiently utilize and leverage tools and solutions to accomplish tasks independently without direct supervision.
• Proficiently complete thorough and accurate annual inspections.
• Demonstrate knowledge of troubleshooting various equipment product lines.
• Deliver excellent customer service and demonstrate a high level of communication skills; Foster and ensure cooperative and collaborative partner relationships; Maintain a positive attitude.

Qualifications: Requirements of the Position

• Education and Certification – High school diploma or equivalent; Industrial, vocational, or mechanical training is a plus; Mechanical maintenance and/or equipment servicing certifications a plus
• Recommended Work Experiences – Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic repairing and maintaining construction equipment; Minimum of 3 years of relevant driving experience; Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; Knowledge of heavy equipment, specifically excavators, forklifts, and compactors
• Physical Demands – Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching (with arms and hands), handling, talking, hearing, depth perception, lifting, vision (close, peripheral, depth, ability to adjust focus), and lifting/moving up to 35+ pounds
• Working Conditions – Considerable local and non-local travel may be required; Work with a group and/or team; Frequent conflict situations may be present; Work after normal business hours; Potential hazardous work; Frequent exposure to extreme outside weather conditions and high levels of noise
