Job summary

Niigata, Inc. is seeking a mechanically inclined Junior Field Service Technician to support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC machine tools across North America.

The role calls for several years of CNC service or maintenance experience and extensive travel to customer sites. The successful candidate will work with experienced field service professionals and gradually take ownership of service assignments, with a long-term path toward a senior Field Service Engineer

Qualifications

• Approximately 3+ years of hands-on CNC machine maintenance, service, repair, or troubleshooting experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
• Experience using common diagnostic tools and test equipment.
• Ability to read technical documentation and service manuals.
• Ability to travel approximately 90-95%.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work independently in field environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation and commissioning of CNC machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance and service inspections.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues.
• Support machine alignment and setup activities.
• Work directly with customers at manufacturing facilities.
• Complete service documentation and field reports.

Chicago Area Preferred (or located near a major U.S. airport)

This position requires approximately 90% travel throughout the United States, Canada, and occasionally Mexico.

Position Summary

Niigata is seeking a mechanically inclined Junior Field Service Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC machine tools throughout North America.

This role is ideal for a technician with several years of CNC service or maintenance experience who is looking to expand their skills supporting a wide variety of machine tool platforms. Candidates should possess strong mechanical aptitude, enjoy troubleshooting equipment, and be willing to travel extensively to customer sites.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced field service professionals before gradually taking ownership of service assignments independently. This role offers a long-term path toward becoming a senior Field Service Engineer supporting Niigata horizontal machining centers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting CNC machine tools through an OEM, distributor, dealer, or service organization
• Fanuc controls experience
• Equipment installation, commissioning, or startup experience
• Electrical troubleshooting experience
• Military background coupled with CNC experience
• Base Salary + overtime eligibility after 38.75 hours worked per week
• Per diem of $60/day during the week and $120/day on weekends while traveling
