Description

Are you a hands-on problem solver who loves to travel and provide exceptional customer service? IPS is seeking a dynamic Field Service Technician to join our team. In this role, no day will be the same. You'll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while delivering top-notch service to our customers. You'll work alongside some of the best technicians in the industry, utilizing the latest technology tools and equipment. Responsibilities & Expectations:
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage (to 500kV) electrical systems, including relay calibration and power metering.
  • Conduct instrument transformer tests.
  • Perform power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.).
  • Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays.
  • Carry out cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
  • Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches.
  • Test low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies promptly.
  • Maintain strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Hold a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Travel locally and overnight as required.
  • Work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends, and be on call.
  • Work safely alone and as part of a team, adhering closely to electrical safety procedures.
  • Contribute to a strong team environment by assisting teammates in achieving mutual goals.
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power or similar experience/training from the military preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • NETA Certification (III or IV) highly preferred or equivalent skills/experience to attain NETA Certification.
  • OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 75 lbs.
  • Pass a fit-for-duty physical exam.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods.
  • Perform manual labor for up to 12+ hours/day.
  • Good hearing and field of vision.
  • Work in demanding physical and weather conditions.
