Job summary

Otovo seeks a skilled Field Service Technician to service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage solutions, and generators in San Jose, CA.

This hands-on role requires working safely, reading schematics, and communicating clearly with customers while supporting clean energy adoption. Travel locally and overtime may be required; a valid electrical license is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 4+ years of electrical experience.
• Valid driver's license with a clean record.
• Strong understanding of NEC/AHJ and utility interconnection requirements.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Lift up to 50 pounds; climb ladders and work on rooftops.
• Outdoor work in varying weather; strong communication skills.
• Willingness to travel locally and work overtime as needed.
• State-required electrical license (Journeyman, Wireman, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing, and battery health assessments.
• Commission new systems and upgrades while ensuring NEC/AHJ and utility compliance.
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging.
• Maintain service records, inspection reports, and photo documentation.
• Follow safety procedures including PPE, lockout/tagout, and fall protection.
• Respond to emergency service calls and warranty-related repairs as needed.
• Communicate effectively with homeowners and customers about system status and recommendations.
• Represent Otovo professionally at customer sites.

Otovo is seeking a skilled and dependable Field Service Technician to join our growing renewable energy team. In this role, you'll service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage solutions, and generators.

This position is ideal for an experienced electrical professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex problems, and delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the transition to clean energy.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing, and battery health assessments
• Commission new systems and upgrades while ensuring compliance with NEC, AHJ, and utility requirements
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging equipment
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and photo documentation
• Follow all safety procedures including PPE usage, lockout/tagout processes, and fall protection requirements
• Respond to emergency service calls and warranty-related repairs as needed
• Communicate effectively with homeowners and customers regarding system status and repair recommendations
• Represent Otovo professionally at customer sites
