Job summary

Rhino Tool House is seeking a Field Service Technician to join our growing Service team in the Detroit Metro Area. This role combines material handling equipment installs and inspections with plant services, including conveyors, lifts, carts, and CTEK equipment.

You will travel to customer sites regionally and nationally, install and troubleshoot machinery, read blueprints, and uphold safety and quality standards while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in field service, machine building, or millwright roles.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and quick learning for new equipment.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and inspect material handling equipment.
• Install conveyors, carts, lifts, and other plant service equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and installation drawings.
• Ensure safety and quality standards on every job.
• Document service reports and communicate with customers and internal teams.
• Travel regularly to customer sites (regional/national).

About the Role

We’re looking for a Field Service Technician to join our growing Service team. This role combines Material Handling equipment installs & inspections with Plant Services, including the installation of conveyors, lifts, carts, and CTEK equipment. Ideal for a machine builder with strong mechanical aptitude who is eager to learn and grow into advanced material handling and automation systems.

What You’ll Do

• Install, assemble, and inspect material handling equipment (cranes, jib cranes, lifts, etc.)
• Install conveyors, carts, lifts, and other plant service equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and installation drawings
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards on every job
• Document service reports and communicate with customers and internal teams
• Travel regularly to customer sites (regional/national)

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years’ experience as a machine builder, millwright, or service technician
• Strong mechanical skills; ability to learn new equipment quickly
• Experience with conveyors, lifts, carts, or cranes preferred
• Basic electrical/controls knowledge a plus
• Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel extensively
• Strong communication and customer service skills
