Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. is seeking a Field Service & Repair Technician to join the Nelson Stud Welding team in an on-site role in Hayward, CA.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain rental fleet equipment and customer machinery while supporting sales teams and delivering technical demonstrations. You will read and interpret technical manuals, write routine reports, and verbally communicate with customers and staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair the regional rental fleet, including stud welding systems, power sources, and field diesel vehicles.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair customer equipment.
• Assist customers in person and via the telephone with equipment, accessory, and technical problems.
• Assist sales representatives in person and via the telephone with equipment, accessory, and technical problems.
• Perform in-house demonstrations for customers.
• Weld samples for sales representatives and customers.
• Perform as a boiler outage service technician as required.
• Perform cycle counts as directed.
• Perform shipping and receiving responsibilities when required.
• Complete company deliveries to various customer/warehouse locations as needed.
• Occasionally perform general building maintenance.

The Job:

As a Field Service & Repair Technician, you’ll be part of our Nelson Stud Welding commercial team working as an on-site employee. You’ll get to:

• Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, area, circumference, and volume.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
