Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Field Service Technician based in Denver, CO. You will travel regionally and internationally to install, service, and maintain complex industrial equipment, combining electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting in high-tech environments.

Expect travel 140–180 days/year and close collaboration with customers. You will diagnose PLC/HMI issues, perform preventive maintenance, and train customers on equipment operation and safety.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years as a service technician with industrial equipment.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting on single-phase, three-phase and LV systems.
  • Experience diagnosing PLC/HMI and automated equipment issues.

Job Title: Field Service Technician
Job Description

The Field Service Technician travels to customer sites to install, service, and maintain complex industrial equipment in line with customer specifications. This role combines electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting in a high-tech environment, supporting automated machinery and control systems while providing exceptional on-site and remote customer support.

Responsibilities
  • Travel to customer locations regionally and internationally to install, service, and maintain industrial equipment according to customer specifications.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on machinery, including single-phase, three-phase power, and low-voltage systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with PLCs, HMIs, and automated equipment, including Siemens S7 and related control systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to ensure optimal performance and reliability of equipment.
  • Install, commission, and start up new equipment, ensuring proper configuration, calibration, and integration with customer systems.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform mechanical and electrical tasks safely and efficiently, following all relevant procedures.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to identify issues and implement solutions.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support to customers when on-site visits are not immediately required.
  • Deliver clear and effective customer training on equipment operation, safety, and maintenance procedures.
  • Document service activities thoroughly using Microsoft Office and service reporting systems, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations.
  • Communicate proactively with customers about findings, solutions, and next steps, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, managing time and priorities effectively while traveling and on-site.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to share technical insights, elevate complex issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of equipment and service processes.
Essential Skills
  • 4+ years of experience as a service technician working with industrial equipment or machinery.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with single-phase, three-phase power, and low-voltage systems.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with machinery.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving PLC, HMI, and automated equipment issues.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation, controls, and machinery systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in remote troubleshooting and providing technical support.
  • Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities in technical environments.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to train customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including during extensive travel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service reporting systems.
  • Ability to lift 20+ lbs consistently while performing service and maintenance tasks.
  • Valid passport to support frequent regional and international travel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Office 365, Linux, PLC systems, and Siemens S7 (minimum 6+ months).
  • Ability to use hand and power tools; prior experience is a plus, and training will be provided.
  • Familiarity with field service practices, including preventive maintenance and repair of complex equipment.
  • Comfort working in high-tech, automated environments where quality and precision are critical.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily at customer sites worldwide, with approximately 140-180 travel days per year, including extended hours during busy seasons. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
