Job summary

Dover is a global manufacturer and solutions provider seeking a Field Service Technician to deliver on-site and remote technical support for Maag gear pumps, pelletizing and filtration systems. The role requires nationwide and international travel, installation, maintenance and repair expertise, and close collaboration with engineering and sales teams.

You will train customers at Maag facilities and customer sites, ensure safety and quality, and generate reports on visits and expenses.

Responsibilities

• Independently travels nationally and internationally as Maag's primary technical representative to the customer.

• Conducts yearly follow up calls to all Maag customers to check up on the customer and Maag machinery.
• Participates in customer visits to provide support for equipment installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair activities.
• Visit responsibilities include logistical planning, coordination with interagency contacts and the customer, execution of the trip and reporting activities and expenses.
• Provides training to customers at Maag’s facility and at the customer’s location.
• Represents the company and collects customer feedback to facilitate continuous improvement opportunities.

The Field Service Technician provides the highest quality on and off-site technical support for the Maag family of equipment to include: plastic pelletizing systems, polymer pump and filtration systems. Working independently but supported by others, the incumbent is the technical representative to our customers for all product maintenance, installation, and repair issues.

Position description – Tasks, responsibilities, competencies

• Provides training to customers at Maag’s facility and at the customer’s location.
• Represents the company and collects customer feedback to facilitate continuous improvement opportunities.
• Conducts technical discussions regarding machinery repairs, upgrades, and selection to assist customers with a solution to their needs or problems.
• Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, parts and equipment sales to develop customer focused solutions.
• The incumbent considers all interests of quality, accident prevention and occupational safety as well as environmental safety in a preventive manner within his scope of responsibility and supports the avoidance of damage to people, facilities, assets, material and environment actively.
• The incumbent is obliged to perform tasks requested by management that relate to his position scope or arise from company needs.

Work Environment

Work in this position is both in an office and a factory floor environment, either locally or at a customer site. While performing the duties of this job in a factory setting, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE may be required.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.

The employee must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Occasional prolonged sitting during international commercial air travel.

Job Specification

Education

Mandatory High School diploma or equivalent education (additional technical skills a plus).

Strong mechanical aptitude.

A valid US Driver’s License is required to book rental cars for travel.

Technical training in electrical systems

Desirable Technical training in electrical systems (single-phase, 3-phase or low voltage systems).

Technical training on logic circuits, electric motors, gears / mechanical devices.

This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
