Job summary

Jobtailor in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Field Service Engineer to perform repairs, calibrations, and electronics troubleshooting at customer sites, install and commission instrumentation, and provide on-site technical support.

Travel up to 30–40% globally, work with flow, level, and temperature instrumentation, document Field Service Reports, and train customers and staff on system operation and safety.

Qualifications

  • Associate of Science or vocational training in electrical, mechanical or instrumentation with relevant work experience.
  • 1–3 years progressive related work experience (Commercial or Military)
  • 3+ years’ work experience with fluid dynamics, measuring instrumentation, and/or process controls is a plus
  • Proficient with HART, Profibus, Modbus or other digital bus communications
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical information to non-technical users and customers
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues on different types of electronic components
  • Ability to sit and talk on the phone for extended periods and use a computer keyboard
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs., grip, wrench, and twist for extended periods
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, use man-lifts and climbing-aloft harnesses
  • Ability to work in or nearby nuclear plants
  • Ability to work overtime when required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Valid passport
  • Ability to travel worldwide for extended periods of time (30/40% of the time)
  • Ability to pass customer site credentials/background checks, such as those required for a TWIC card
  • Ability to work primarily 1st shift, with possible 2nd or 3rd shift changes
  • Professional presentation and organization
  • Fiscal responsibility to customers and FCI

Responsibilities

  • Conduct repairs, calibrations, and electronics troubleshooting
  • Travel to customer sites for service and troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, test, and calibrate industrial flow, level, and temperature measurement instrumentation
  • Install, start up, and commission instrumentation at customer locations
  • Answer technical support calls
  • Respond to emails regarding post-sale product support
  • Troubleshoot and maintain instruments interfacing with DCS, PLCs, MMI, SCADA, pressure transmitters, thermocouples, analyzers, and other industrial field control devices
  • Perform calibration and input operating parameters and specifications according to customer plant specifications, management, and/or engineers
  • Document customer site visits through Field Service Reports and expense reports
  • Train FCI personnel, customers, and sales channel partners on installation, operation, integration, configuration, service, and use of FCI products
