Job summary

Morris Group, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, repair and maintain machine tool equipment and controls at customer sites across the United States. The role emphasizes high-quality service, independent problem solving and detailed documentation for customers and internal teams.

Ideal candidates have CNC experience (1–3 years), strong communication skills, and the ability to travel up to 50% of the workweek. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain machine tool equipment and controls.

  • Coordinate with departments to resolve customer issues and ensure satisfaction.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures and ethics.

Summary of Responsibility:

The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of machine tool equipment, controls (Fanuc, Siemens, etc.) and other components purchased by customers. This position works independently to ensure the highest level of quality and customer service satisfaction.

What You Will Contribute:
  • Travel to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all machine tool equipment and controls.
  • Perform improvements on equipment; perform and promote preventative maintenance on customer machine tool equipment.
  • Provide tech support and training to customer
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical components.
  • Effectively communicate machine issues, status of installation or status of machine repair to customer. Ensure proper, detailed documentation is completed and submitted to office and customer (i.e. service report, install report).
  • Ensure that customer commitments are carried out as planned to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain partner relationships with our machine tool vendors and other third-party vendors.
  • Exhibit ownership of customer related problems and coordinate with appropriate departments when necessary for resolution of problems to ensure customer service satisfaction.

Qualifications &Competencies:
  • An associate’s degree in a related field is preferred; High School Diploma/GED from a technical school is required.
  • One to three years of experience working with CNC machines and controls.
  • Solid written and verbal communication, listening, organization and priority setting skills.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics, manuals and diagrams.
  • Trouble shooting skills and attention to detail with technical aptitude are required.
  • Strong understanding of customer satisfaction.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the workweek; some overnight travel required.
  • Must provide basic hand tools for electrical/mechanical repair at own cost.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both professional and non-professional, co-workers, management personnel, the public and others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities.
  • Able to think quickly, assess a situation and make a sound decision.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas.
  • Strong hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
