Job summary

Tanknology is a leading environmental protection company seeking a Compliance Field Technician as part of an apprenticeship program. Based in our Chicago area operations, you will learn under supervision while performing testing, installations, and repairs, using TANCS software to record findings.

You’ll conduct site assessments, perform leak tests on fuel storage tanks and piping, and travel across multiple states with occasional overnight stays. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Tanknology, a United Uptime Services Company, a fast-growing leader in the petroleum services industry, is looking for experienced, energetic, hardworking Field Service Technician Apprentice. As a Field Service Technician, you will learn through an apprenticeship style program until you are certified. In this role you will work on various job sites, performing testing, installations, and repairs while using our proprietary software, TANCS, to record your findings.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct site assessments and surveys
• Perform leak tests on fuel storage tanks and piping systems
• Install equipment and test tank gauge systems
• Enter and analyze test results, communicating findings to the Operations team
• Manage and report inventory of parts and supplies on your company vehicle

What We’re Looking For

• Mechanical aptitude with experience in trades (HVAC, plumbing, mechanics, electricians, carpenters, or cable technicians preferred)
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physical tasks (stooping, bending, kneeling)
• Passion for Safety: A commitment to safety is non-negotiable. You'll prioritize safety in all aspects of your work, ensuring a secure environment for yourself and your team.
• Hands-On Attitude: You're not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty. Whether it's lifting heavy equipment or troubleshooting complex issues, you're up for the challenge.

• Customer Service Driven: Available to be on call and capable of completing all work efficiently while maintaining strong client relationships
• Ability to travel across multiple states, occasionally staying overnight (hotel and generous per diem provided)
• A Strong Educational Foundation: High school diploma or GED required
• Pre-Employment Testing: Must pass drug test, background, physical, and MVR check.
