Job summary

Ohio Transmission Corporation is seeking a Rotating Equipment Technician to support shop operations and field service at customer sites in Alabama. You will install, align, dismantle, and move industrial machinery, perform proactive maintenance, and travel as required to support field assignments.

Responsibilities include reading schematics, using precision tools, and maintaining accurate CMMS records. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel overnight are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; technical or trade training preferred.
  • 2–4 years in an industrial mechanical maintenance or field service role.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting and hands-on equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with hand and power tools in an industrial setting.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on rotating and fixed equipment.
  • Inspect components for wear, damage, and alignment; escalate as needed.

  • Read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and support repairs or component replacements.
  • Use hand and power tools to complete tasks.
  • Travel to customer sites and drive company truck as needed.
  • Maintain records in CMMS or job-tracking systems.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

This role supports both shop operations and field service work at customer sites, including driving a company truck and traveling as job needs require.

Competitive Pay: This position offersanhourly wage starting at $28-35/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.

What You'll Do:
  • Assist with the installation, alignment, dismantling, and movement of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in the shop and at customer sites.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on rotating and fixed equipment in the shop and during field service calls.
  • Inspect mechanical components for wear, damage, and alignment issues, escalating concerns as needed.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and support repairs or component replacements.
  • Use hand and power tools to complete maintenance and installation tasks.
  • Work alongside experienced technicians, engineers, and electricians on equipment installations and repairs.
  • Drive a company truck to and from field service calls and safely transport tools, parts, and equipment in accordance with company vehicle requirements.
  • Travel to customer sites and remain on the road as needed to support field service assignments, including overnight stays for multiple days based on customer needs and job requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and coordinate with the service team on job progress, equipment concerns, and follow-up needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent using CMMS or job tracking systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete routine tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in the shop and at customer sites, complying with company safety requirements, customer site procedures, and applicable industry safety regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to expand technical skills.
What You'll Need:
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in an industrial, mechanical maintenance, or field service role.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with equipment maintenance.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience using hand and power tools in an industrial setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently on routine tasks and as part of a team for more complex work.
  • Physical ability to lift equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in shop and customer site environments, including outdoor conditions as required.
  • Exposure to rotating equipment (pumps, motors, compressors, etc.) preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company requirements for operating a company truck, including maintaining an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed for field service work, including time on the road and overnight stays for multiple days based on customer needs and job requirements.
  • Ability to work safely at customer sites, follow site-specific requirements, and communicate effectively with customers and the service team.
