Job summary

OWL Services in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Field Service Technician to service and install electronic equipment including security point of sale and EV charging stations.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, electrical experience, and the ability to travel up to 40% overnight. You will troubleshoot, repair, and service a range of devices, while maintaining safety and quality in all tasks.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills required.
• 1+ years’ experience working in an electrical capacity is preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 30-40% overnight.
• Must be able to work independently and be a strong problem-solver.
• Must be able to use a computer and smartphone proficiently.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to protocols.
• Good driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs electro-mechanical devices (POS, security, alarms).
• Manage EV charger testing requirements and create performance reports.
• Locate system performance issues and fix ground faults.
• Complete service requests and maintenance items promptly and professionally.
• Review work orders, manuals, and drawings for proper service tasks.
• Utilize testing devices and multiple hand/power tools.
• May be reassigned geographically for new installations/upgrades.
• Other duties as required.

The Role

The position is responsible for servicing and installing various electronic equipment to include security point of sale, as well as EV charging stations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, inspects, replaces/repairs a wide variety of electro-mechanical devices such as cash registers, coin changers, security equipment, alarms, and point of sale equipment.
• Manage various EV charger testing requirements such as torque, thermal imagery, insulation (megger) and performance reports.
• Locate system performance issues and fix ground faults.
• Complete service requests and maintenance repair items in a timely manner and ensures all requests are handled in a professional manner.
• Correctly review work orders, manuals, and drawings to properly perform maintenance and service of equipment.
• Utilize various testing devices, multiple hand and power tools related to the job.
• May be temporarily assigned to other geographical area to provide support with new installations and upgrades.
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills required.
• One+ years’ experience working in an electrical capacity is preferred.
• Must be able to work independently and be a strong problem-solver.
• Strong attention to safety and willingness to follow all safety protocols.
• 24/7 on-call rotation with other techs in your area.
• Must be able to travel up to 30-40% overnight.
• Experience with various POS systems (Verifone/NCR) a plus.
• Experience with Alarms a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good driving record is required.
• Ability to travel and possessing air travel documents, i.e., REAL ID, Passport, etc.
• Ability to use a computer and smartphone proficiently.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands include moderate with some strenuous physical exertion including the ability to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at waist. Must be able to climb a ladder and lift/carry up to 70 lbs. Work will be performed both outdoors and indoors.
