Technician II
Your Day to Day
Duties and Responsibilities (in order of priority):
- Conduct non-destructive examinations according to written procedures.
- Interpret, evaluate, and document the results of examinations in accordance with applicable standards and specifications.
- Investigate and interpret various industry standards, codes, and procedures across nuclear and non-nuclear fields.
- Assist in developing new techniques and inspection procedures, and review existing ones to improve processes in nuclear and non-nuclear industries.
- Work collaboratively with other NDT personnel to support field projects with procedures and examination plans.
- Participate in performance-based training programs to acquire and maintain certifications and stay current with technology.
- Engage in safety training to acquire skills and knowledge for working in hazardous environments, including operating safety equipment and systems.
- Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot field service equipment at customer sites, including NDE technology, robotic systems, and computer networks.
- Perform all tasks under general supervision, ensuring high quality and adherence to qualified procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain attention to detail and document all quality-related issues.
- Develop team-building skills with peers, supervisors, contractors, customers, and other departments.
- Demonstrate customer sensitivity and service skills, focusing on creative problem solving.
- This role requires extensive travel, maintenance of “Unescorted Access” status, and working with hazardous materials.
Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you’d bring the following:
Education and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Level II Technician.
- At least two (2) years of experience performing non-destructive inspections in nuclear and/or non-nuclear power plants according to approved procedures and codes.
- Working knowledge of ASME Code.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Ability to travel up to 60%, including multiple 1-3 week trips during spring and fall.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Unescorted Access to nuclear facilities.
- Familiarity with the scope and limitations of certified methods, capable of performing duties with minimal assistance.
Skills and Competencies:
- Working knowledge of ASME Code.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- ANST SNT-TC-1A Level II certification in multiple disciplines (UT, VT, MT, PT).
- Familiarity with CAD modeling software (AutoCAD or equivalent).
- Knowledge of NDE modeling software (CIVA, Beam Tool, Ultravision, etc.).
- Preferably, experience in team leadership.
