Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment (crushers, conveyors, loaders, excavators, dozers, haul trucks).
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and diesel engine systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services.
  • Respond to field service calls and emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues.
  • Complete work orders, inspections, and maintenance records.
  • Maintain inventory of service truck parts and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, MSHA, OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations.
  • Communicate status and repair recommendations with operations and maintenance teams.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and major rebuilds.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe work environment.

Position Overview


Staker Parson Companies, a CRH company, is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Field Service Technician to support the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of construction, aggregate, and heavy equipment throughout assigned locations. The Field Service Technician plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting operational excellence through preventative maintenance and field-based repair services.


This role requires availability to support operational needs during the afternoon and evening hours, with a typical schedule of 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)



  • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment, including crushers, conveyors, loaders, excavators, dozers, haul trucks, and support equipment.

  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and diesel engine systems.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and services according to manufacturer and company standards.

  • Respond to field service calls and emergency breakdowns in a timely manner.

  • Use computerized diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve equipment issues.

  • Complete work orders, equipment inspections, and maintenance records accurately and timely.

  • Maintain inventory of service truck parts, tools, and supplies.

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, MSHA, OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations.

  • Communicate effectively with operations personnel, supervisors, and maintenance teams regarding equipment status and repair recommendations.

  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and major component rebuilds as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Required



  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 3+ years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, construction equipment, or aggregate processing equipment.

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting.

  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams.

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred



  • Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

  • Must possess or be able to obtain valid DOT Medical Card.

  • MSHA certification or ability to obtain certification.

  • Technical school or vocational training in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, or related field.

  • Experience working in aggregate, mining, asphalt, ready-mix, or construction environments.
