Coperion is seeking a Field Service Technician to join our team in Rhode Island. Candidates may live in Massachusetts or Connecticut but must be within an hour's commute to the facility and be available to work from the Rhode Island location when not traveling.

The Field Service Engineer (Recycling) is responsible for representing Herbold Meckesheim, US (a Coperion brand) in the capacity of service providing hands-on technical assistance, installation support, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, refurbishing, upgrades, and training at customer sites or remotely.

Work You’ll Do:
  • Represent the company as a Service Representative, providing assistance and advice to customers and/or assigned personnel, including identifying opportunities to cross or upsell equipment. Provide feedback on information received in the field on Coperion equipment and others.
  • Install, troubleshoot, overhaul, and/or maintain gearboxes, lube oil systems, drive components, process sections, downstream equipment such as pelletizers, gear pump systems, and other associated equipment. Assist customers with startup of newly installed equipment and train customer personnel as needed. Participation in classroom training may be required.
  • Be responsible, dependable, and safety-minded, working in accordance with all Coperion policies and standards, and adhering to all customer safety, drug, and alcohol regulations and procedures.
  • When not on travel assignment, provide on-call assistance to customers via various channels (phone, email, video call), assist with service report preparation and distribution, create field information packages for self, team, or the company, and other related tasks.
  • Keep accurate records by providing detailed reports and submitting them promptly.
  • Willing to work flexible hours (holidays, weekends) and travel extensively, including trips up to 3 weeks within North America and up to 12 weeks outside North America; must have a valid passport and driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • When not traveling, work from our Rhode Island location, assisting with daily tasks and support.

Basic Qualifications:
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience in related skills.
  • Safety training such as OSHA 10 or 30 (General Industry).
  • Experience supervising, guiding, and managing projects with a team of millwrights and mechanical craft workers during equipment installation and maintenance.
  • Experience troubleshooting, documenting, and performing assembly, disassembly, and repair of industrial equipment using appropriate tools, with knowledge of wiring, electrical, control, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment drawings (general arrangements, exploded views, electrical diagrams, etc.).
  • Excellent professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise routine and comprehensive documents (PFD, P&ID, diagrams, manuals, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must have a valid passport, driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working remotely with minimal supervision.
  • PLC/HMI programming skills.
