Job summary

The Rapid Group in Paterson, NJ is seeking an experienced Assistant Service Manager to coordinate field technicians, troubleshoot pumps and motors, and keep the service department running smoothly. You will manage dispatch, schedule priorities, handle on-call coverage, oversee the shop, and communicate with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting pumps and motors.
• Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience supporting or coordinating field service technicians.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with dispatching, scheduling, or service management is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to field technicians.
• Help diagnose and resolve pump, motor, and mechanical system issues.
• Serve as a primary resource for field technicians during service challenges.
• Manage and maintain the daily dispatch board and coordinate service calls.
• Coordinate scheduling, priorities, customer needs, and technician availability.
• Manage the on-call schedule and afterhours service coverage.
• Oversee the service shop, ensuring equipment, tools, and workflow are organized.
• Monitor field activity and follow up on open or delayed calls.
• Communicate clearly with customers, management, and internal departments.
• Create quotes and estimates for customers and follow up on statuses.
