Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and modify high voltage assets including GIS, transformers and switchgear. The role requires travel up to 80% and regular interface with customers at job sites.

You will read electrical and mechanical drawings, support factory production, supervise contractors, and complete field reports, EHS forms, and time and expense records. A bachelor’s or diploma in electrical or mechanical technology is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in electrical and or mechanical technology or a highly related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience on Installation, Commissioning and maintenance of high voltage equipment.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.
• Strong oral and written communication skills (French and English).

• Perform Installation and initial starts-ups.
• Perform mechanical work in electrical substations; inspect equipment, structures, and materials at designated sites to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects information and evaluates results to select the best solution and resolve customer issues
• Performs physical activities that requires considerable dexterity and agility
• Support GE Factory Production and other GE Departments as needed
• Supervise and give direction to contractors, customer personnel
• Complete paperwork in a timely and accurate manner including Field Service Reports, EHS reports, timecards and expense reports
• Interface between GE and Customer at site

Field Service Technician will perform Installation, Commissioning, Electromechanical Troubleshooting, Repair/Adjustments and Modifications to GE High Voltage Assets (Circuit Breakers, Disconnect Switches, Transformers, Gas insulated switchgear (GIS), Instrument transformers (ITR’s)).
The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures.
