Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Field Supervisor is accountable for the dispatch, efficiency, and discipline of all field technicians assigned. MGDust possesses a deep knowledge of construction equipment repair processes and dispatch organizational skills. Customer relations and customer satisfaction are also key ingredients of the job.

Basic Duties

The Field Service Supervisor is responsible for all field service activity within the territory. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Exemplify our Corporate Values of Integrity, Customer Focus, Accountability, and Teamwork.
  • Provide leadership and direction to achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and profitability.
  • Conduct regular meetings to coordinate activities, provide guidance, gather information, and communicate company strategy.
  • Manage work-flow and scheduling to achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction and shop efficiency.
  • Manage service, repair, and reconditioning of machines and components in the field.
  • Manage field service customer communications.
  • Manage the work order process from opening jobs through job invoicing.
  • Develop quotes for complex jobs and quote approvals.
  • Consistently enforce work rules and company policies.
  • Effectively manage all Work In Progress (WIP).
  • Conduct semi-annual performance reviews for all direct reports.
  • Ensure operations conform to industry and company performance metrics and benchmarks.
  • Occasionally participate in sales calls with Sales Reps.
  • Perform all safety inspections on field vehicles and current employee safety programs.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years’ experience as a service technician in the heavy equipment field or related fields, military, or diesel technology trade degree.
  • Minimum of at least two years demonstrated previous management and/or leadership experience.
  • Advanced user of all Microsoft Office products, including Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Caterpillar programs, DBSi, SIMS 2, and PSEL is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of DSI dispatch system is a plus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: All field technicians directly report to the supervisor. Manage all admin personnel assigned to designated area.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand, interpret, and leverage performance metrics related to efficiency, productivity, profitability, safety, market share, resource deployment, and general operations.
  • Exceptional communication, management, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and EPA regulations as they relate to the industry.

Payrate: $65,000-$85,000 annually.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position works in an office environment and in a service shop environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone calls, write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. May on a continuous basis be on the shop floor supporting service operations. Will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (e.g., safety glasses or side shields, safety boots, gloves) when needed. Noise level in the shop environment is usually moderate to high and the noise level in the office environment is usually low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional local travel may be required. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
