Job summary

Thompson Machinery is seeking a Field Service Supervisor to lead a team of skilled mechanics and support staff at the Memphis location. You will assign work, coordinate scheduling, and ensure safe, timely repairs while maintaining excellent customer relations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of hands-on equipment diagnostics experience with construction machinery, strong leadership, and the ability to travel up to 15% for meetings and training.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting on construction equipment (Caterpillar, JLG, Genie, Allied).
• Ability to learn and understand computer systems quickly.
• Strong customer service focus and professionalism in interactions with customers and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Assigns work within company facilities and at remote field locations, guiding technicians to prioritize and complete field service orders.
• Coordinates with technicians to ensure parts availability, timely work orders, and efficient schedules.
• Interacts with customers and Product Support leadership regarding service status and progress.
• Conducts annual performance reviews for the assigned unit and documents events of work-related injuries or property damages.
• Maintains staffing schedules, timesheets, and responds to customer inquiries; flexible for nights, weekends, and on-call hours.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Field Service Supervisor position is responsible formanaging all skilled service mechanics/technicians andsupport staff at the designated location. Assigns work & directs staff to ensure that safe, appropriateand efficient repairs are performed. Interacts with customers and other supervisors regardingservice progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assigns work within company facilities and at remote field locations, helping technicians in prioritizing and locatingfield service customers.
• Coordinates contact with technicians to support parts availability and parts orders,timelycompletion of work orders, and development of work schedules.
• Interacts with individual and commercial equipment customers and with company Product Support leadership regardingservice status.
• Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned operational unit.
• Investigate & document events of work-relatedInjury and/or property damages.
• Maintain effective work, vacationand training scheduled for assigned staff.
• Submit accuratetime records related to work performed and/or hours worked.
• Respond to customer inquiries related to service.
• Able to worka flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and on-call hours asrequired.
• Must be able to travel as requiredfor meetings and training (less than 15%).
• May have to lift up to 25-30 pounds on occasion.
• May work in an environment where hazards are present.
• Requires frequent hand use for typing, operating the phone, handling materials, and other job-related tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma required , college and/or technical education preferred.
• Service Technician training and/or equipment service and maintenance training through accredited technical schools, equipment dealerships or manufacturer factory training preferred.
• Five or more years of previoushands-on equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting experience working on construction equipment, including Caterpillar, JLG, Genie, and Allied.

• Able to learn and understand computer systems quickly.
• Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, adaptability and a strong customer service focus.
• Sense of urgency and self-initiative, and the personal drive for success .
