Qualifications

  • Reliable transportation.

  • Ability to safely drive a company truck or other equipment.
  • Overtime, nights and weekends as required.
  • Regular travel to job sites.
  • Background checks and drug screening may be required.
  • Must pass a DOT physical exam or hold a current DOT medical card.

Position: Field Service Specialist Job Location: Roanoke, VA Job Type: Full-Time Status: Non-Exempt

Summary of the Role

Seeking an experienced Conveyor Belting Technician who is mechanically inclined. Performs splices and installation on various types of conveyor belts and components to meet customer and industry requirements. Responsible for leading individual tasks or small jobs. Performs other field service and warehouse tasks, as trained and required. Reports to Field Service Supervisor or Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures
  • Works closely with Field Service Supervisors and team members in attaining goals and objectives
  • Leads field service team on jobs and works with team to perform conveyor belt installation with mechanical or vulcanized splice
  • Good understanding of overall Quality process and documentation
  • Communicate general and quality-related concerns to management
  • Provide onsite customer service
  • Perform conveyor belt installation with mechanical or vulcanized splice
  • Understands tools and machinery applicable to the job
  • Travel is a required part of job
  • Perform other duties as trained and qualified for
Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to work overtime hours, evening and weekends, when required
  • Must be able travel to out-of-town jobs, as needed
  • Possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with customers, and team-members in a professional manner
  • Basic mechanical skills including the use of hand tools
  • Basic computer skills including; internet and email
  • Must be able to apply OSHA standards applicable and MSHA standards as applicable (training will be provided)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • At least 3 years of experience working with conveyors and conveyor components
  • Have a high school diploma/GED
  • Reliable transportation is a must
  • Be able to work independently
  • Ability to safely drive a Company truck or other mechanical equipment
  • Ability to work overtime, as required
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, as required
  • Basic math skills
  • Properly measure with a tape measure
  • Ability to travel on regular basis
  • Background checks and drug screening may be required (by Company, Customer or DOT requirements in working on-site and operating equipment as required or permitted by law)
  • Must be able to successfully pass a DOT physical exam, or have a current DOT medical card
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with conveyors and conveyor components
  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience
  • Mechanically inclined Knowledge of maintenance and repair of machinery a plus OSHA 10 and MSHA certifications First aid and CPR certifications
Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This role may include a mix of customer onsite work and warehouse floor environments. Work is primarily performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, snow, rain, and wind.

Ability to pull, push, grasp, bend, lift and carry up to 50lbs independently on a repeated basis. Heavier items may be moved with team assistance or mechanical aid.

Ability to work at varying work-surface levels and machine operation heights.

Ability to move above or below workstations or retrieve items from various heights.

Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and safety procedures.

Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, inventory sheets, and procedure manuals.

Ability to properly and safely use mechanical equipment and tools.

Ability to enter and exit a service vehicle and other mechanical equipment multiple times per day.

Ability to inspect products for wear, damage, and leaks.

Ability to respond to safety signals, alarms, and verbal instructions.

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, or hard hats, depending on task or site conditions.
