Position: Field Service Specialist

Location: U.S. Remote - Preferred locations Phoenix, AZ, Denver, CO, Seattle, WA or Chicago, IL or other locations with easy access to a major airport

Position Overview

The Field Service Specialist will aid in this effort by acting as an on-site C&D representative to datacenter, co-lo, telecom central offices, or tower site customers who require field support or warranty service. The Field Service Specialist will perform battery and system field inspections, battery system analysis, project management for major installations, and develop service programs utilizing our channel partners and preferred service providers. The Field Service Specialist supervises workers that install, maintain, service, test, and repair batteries or equipment at a customer site or in the field.

The overall goal of the department is to ensure customers are getting the maximum performance and life from their reserve power system. The ideal candidate has a technical mindset and strong customer focus.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate battery installation, preventative maintenance procedures, and acceptance testing.
  • Act as Safety Lead at active project sites.
  • Inspects and approves the work of C&D agent and sub-contractor field service technicians or representatives; and may be directly responsible for more complex repairs.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Perform or assist in test, repair, and install supplemental equipment on battery systems, as required.
  • Develop service contract opportunities including sourcing, pricing, and program development.
  • Review installation quotation requests and submit pricing to sales.
  • Supervise and coordinate warranty work with C&D agents and sub-contractors.
  • Coordinate technical evaluation of all C&D-sponsored SMP contracts.
  • Perform battery and system field inspections, system analysis and installation coordination to determine whether the cause of failure is a warranty or customer-related issue.
  • Evaluates repairs against existing service level agreements or warranties and negotiate resolution with customer.
  • Coordinate warranty claim processing and support.
  • Train C&D employees, agents and customers on battery installation and maintenance procedures.
  • 50-75% Travel
Requirements
  • Associate degree or equivalent engineering or technical discipline, electrical/electronic engineering preferred.
  • Minimum five years of experience with industrial standby batteries
  • Knowledge of the Industry’s protocols, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience in leading and directing the work of others.
  • On-site experience at Datacenters, Co-Lo’s, Telecom Central Office, Cell Tower, and/or Utilities including switchgear, power generation and power distribution
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Access and Excel. Ability to develop Excel workbooks for project planning, tracking, and technical analysis
  • Ideal candidate will have background a DC power/battery service supervisor or project manager.
  • Ability to utilize basic hand tools, electrical test equipment and follow written instructions and drawings as required.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to navigate industrial buildings and construction sites (5-10 miles per day)
  • Able to monitor and move between multiple teams within large customer sites.
  • Able to maintain a professional attitude when dealing with customer issues.
