Job summary

Landis+Gyr seeks a Field Service Representative I to provide technical service expertise and to improve customers' use of Company solutions. Responsibilities include on-site training, troubleshooting, and coordinating with design to meet customer requirements.

You will perform pre-site inspections, deliver technical presentations, and generate detailed trip reports to support continuous improvement across customer sites. Some travel required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a 4-year college or university or 2-year degree from a technical institution
  • 2+ years successful performance in a customer service or technical support related position in an electronic technology related field including independent travel and customer contact. Combination of experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience with utility operations, Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) operations, Radio Frequency (RF) systems is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides secondary support to Company customer service and the customer with system performance issues.
  • Provides assistance to customers in implementation, operation, training, and problem resolution.
  • Responds to all customer inquiries in a timely manner and follows through to a successful resolution.
  • Conducts pro-active system reviews to ensure the operation of Company solution is optimal at each customer site during the implementation or initial phase of a system roll-out.
  • Completes detailed trip reports and documentation of customer-related activities into Customer Relationship, and prompts filing of expense reports.
  • Provides management reports that identifies problems encountered by customers with the objective of providing continuous improvement information back to Company customer service, training and engineering.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.

Job Summary

The Field Service Representative I's objective is to provide technical service expertise to improve the customers' effective use of Company solutions and to correct any system performance issues for new or expanding systems through the proactive technical review of system performance including troubleshooting. Works with system design to meet customer requirements as well as assisting with defining installation strategies. Communications of changes in Company solutions to facilitate required customer change. On-site training in installation and system operations. Demonstrated competence in Company solutions through self-training including passing competency requirements. Pre-site inspections and coordination of technical data gathering. Technical presentations directed toward training, maintenance, system support, and operations.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have strong orientation toward providing customer satisfaction, establishing and maintaining effective process that ensure a reliable effective Company solution at multiple customer locations.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Working Conditions: Hybrid environment with time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, monitor and outdoor environment including field surveys, installation and assisting customer with field installation. Use of other devices such as phone, copier/printer/fax, etc.
  • Driving Status: Clean driving record
  • Physical Requirements: Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to sit and view computer screens for long periods of time. The ability to read, write, and speak in English. Reasonable accommodation is provided for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSAS Safety Requirements: Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company. If required, must be able to work while wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, work boots, gloves, hearing protection, and others.

Pay is in the range of $63,100 - $76,075 per year. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.
