Job summary

Interstate Assembly Systems is seeking a Field Service Mechanic to service heavy-duty work trucks in the Central California region, including cranes, welders, air compressors, and related systems.

The role requires extensive travel to customer sites (up to seven hours daily) with some overnight trips. You will diagnose, repair, and fabricate as needed, ensuring safe, reliable service for our clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience working on heavy-duty trucks or equipment.
• Expertise in repairing hydraulic systems, cranes, welders, and air compressors.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and heavy-duty vehicle diagnostics.
• Welding and fabrication skills (MIG, TIG, stick) preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and diagnostic codes.
• CDL is a plus; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on heavy-duty trucks and integrated systems.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
• Perform welding and fabrication to repair or modify components.
• Operate and test cranes for safety and functionality.
• Service air compressors and auxiliary equipment.
• Respond to field service calls with timely solutions.
• Document parts used, time spent, and repair notes.
• Adhere to OSHA and DOT safety standards.
• Explain repairs to clients and advise on preventative maintenance.
